Our Vision
Guiding immigrants and refugees to thrive, belong, and succeed in Canada.

Kedeshia Simpson-Weir is a proud immigrant to Canada, with deep roots in Jamaica. Growing up in the “spirit capital of the world,” she excelled as a high school track star, competing at an elite level for both her school and country. Her dedication to athletics earned her a track scholarship to Dickinson State University in the US, where she majored in Computer Science. After two years, she transferred to the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the US on a full-ride scholarship, shifting her focus to Management Information Systems.
Throughout her university years, Kedeshia continued to shine on the track. She was honored as the NAIA Track Athlete of the Year, NCAA Track Athlete of the Year, and a two-time NCAA All-American. However, due to recurring leg injuries, she ultimately made the difficult decision to step away from competitive athletics.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems, Kedeshia moved to Canada, where she built a beautiful life with her loving husband and their three wonderful children.
As she transitioned from athletics to professional life, Kedeshia searched for a new purpose—something that truly ignited her passion. She discovered a deep fulfillment in helping others navigate the immigration process. This led her to Herzing College, where she earned a diploma in Immigration Consulting. Though she didn’t obtain her official consultant license, she found another way to make a meaningful impact.
Her journey into nonprofit work began when she met a family at church who had been living in Canada without status for over a decade. By guiding them through the refugee claim process, she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of support and advocacy. Seeing their gratitude and newfound hope inspired Kedeshia to do more.
With a heart for service, she founded Steinbach Immigration and Refugee Guide Center Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees successfully integrate into Canadian society. Through her work, Kedeshia continues to provide guidance, support, and a sense of relief to those seeking a fresh start in their new home.
In addition to her nonprofit work, Kedeshia is actively involved in her community. She currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Winnipeg Condominium Corporation No. 900, where she contributes her leadership and management expertise to support the organization’s governance and development.
Her story is one of resilience, passion, and a commitment to uplifting others—ensuring that every immigrant and refugee she encounters has the opportunity to build a brighter future.
